About PV

CARRYING OUT THE MISSION

as a church, we exist to Unleash the transforming influence of Jesus, at PV, the Northland, and Beyond.

We are a Gospel-centered church. That means we prioritize all we do through whether it points people to Jesus. We gather together for weekly worship services, studies and community groups. We teach people about the next steps in their faith journey. We encourage mentoring and accountability, so we are always growing. The more you know and understand who God is, the more you want to share with others.

In our technology driven world, you can listen to the best teachers and music with the click of a button, but clicking on that link will only get you so far. People were created for community. We need to look each other in the eyes. We need to feel like we’ve been heard and what we are saying is important. If you need proof, just look at Jesus. He took on flesh and became a man, so He could share the Gospel face to face. We need each other.

Jesus was a servant leader. Whether he was washing feet, healing the sick or teaching a lesson, Jesus was others-focused. Serving in our community and around the world is the best way to transfer all of our head knowledge into our heart. We are moved when we give what we have in gifts and abilities and watch God show up and do more than we could ever imagine. Serving is often fuel to grow our faith.

WHAT YOU VALUE INFLUENCES HOW YOU LIVE

Where We’ve Been

Before we look ahead to where God is leading us in the days ahead, let’s remember where He has faithfully brought us from. Over 70 years ago, PV was started by a group of college students. They met in a local school and had Sunday School in station wagons and trucks. They built their first building, and when they outgrew it, they dug out a basement by hand to add Sunday School and nursery space. Through the generations they raised up, they continued to build and grow the ministries and the buildings that housed them, not for their own glory, but so the people in this community could meet an extraordinary God in the midst of ordinary people and their lives could be transformed.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

God has done amazing things through Pleasant Valley. But He isn’t done yet. As tempting as it might be to “play it safe” because what we are doing is good, we believe God is up to something great. It takes courage to join Him in that work because God-sized work requires God-sized vision, which means only He can get it done through us. Are you willing to take a risk?

It is in our DNA as a church to accept those God-sized risky challenges.

Just as our church founders invested in our future all those years ago, we see the unique opportunity to invest in those who will come after us by improving our ministry capacity here, radically impacting our growing community and reaching parts of the world that need the Gospel the most.
